My name is Troy Nicholson. I was born and raised only 5 miles from this church (as the crow flies). After 2 years of struggling, I finally accepted the call to ministry on March 1st, 1997. Since that time, God has kept me in a constant adventure! I love to teach and preach as well as to do mission work.
I graduated from North Greenville College with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies and Biblical Languages. I then went on to get my MDiv from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. My MDiv is in International Church Planting and Biblical Languages.
During my time in seminary, I pastored a small church. Then, I went to Russia for 3 years where I was privileged to start a Deaf Church. (My wife and I married during my time in Russia.) Then, we moved to Turkey for 2 years and continued working with the Deaf. After returning to the States, I pastored a bi-vocational church in Georgia.
After all that, we returned overseas for about a year. However, because of COVID, we were forced to return home. God has clearly led us to Pleasant Ridge! We are excited to bring in 5+ years of missions experience and 5+ years of pastoral experience to this congregation. We hope, by God's grace, to bring a global vision to a local church and see what God will do!
My life verse is Hebrews 12:1-2
"Wherefore, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith..."
